Schmidtys Bar Restaurant - La Crosse

My friends and I stopped at this restaurant after a road trip to the city. We wanted to order 4 grasshoppers, but the waiter warned us that they might not be able to make them quickly due to how busy they were. Our friends insisted on trying them, so the waiter agreed to make them. However, she complained to other customers at the bar while making them. After a previous bad experience with cold food and burnt pancakes, we were disappointed to hear her complaints. We likely won't be returning to this restaurant.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I have dined here a few times before and the service and food were always outstanding. However, this time was a complete letdown. We made a reservation after a recommendation from the UW La Crosse department, but when we arrived, they had forgotten to write it down. We were seated at a dirty table in the bar area, and the overall cleanliness of the floors and bathrooms was subpar. It took 35 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and our food took 1.5 hours to be served. When it finally arrived, the food was cold and the baked carrots were undercooked. I felt sorry for our waitress who was doing her best to rectify the situation, but the bartender was extremely rude. Two men who were seated behind us even left after he failed to make their drinks. One of the girls working there had to step in and make the drinks herself. To top it off, another girl behind the bar was seen vaping. This experience was a major disappointment and I will not be returning.

From beginning to end it was disappointing. the waitress never shared specials when one of us ordered the salmon, we said they were out. after that our drinks were mixed. eating was generally only moderate.

I had an excellent pan-fried cod at this restaurant. I was recommended to try the Wisconsin tradition of Fish Fry Friday during the fasting season. The food was tasty, especially the two delicious soups. The fish was excellent. Our waitress, Anne, was very nice. I had a refreshing beer, although not as good as the Barbarian Brewery in Boise, Idaho, it still quenched my thirst. I will definitely come back again. Thank you to the staff!

Good place for food best drinks. They've got one of the best **** Mary's in La Crosse. Friendly people. Friendly bartender. Loved it. Best time ever. I ordered the melt and it was perfect.
