Contribuiți la feedbackOn a Sunday afternoon you want to be quiet in a beautiful clean fresh and new environment, decorated with rustique sculptures and unfortunately fake bookshelves, a discrete waitress for your own attention, meals to delight, a Master of ceremony a bit tired from a fully booked Saturday PM then just what you need of care, a swimming opportunity and a wine yards plus hilly spectacular scenery then you can't miss this resort and keep it for you as a Crown Jewels family secret. I woul recommend price to be kept stable, to keep getting locals who are less lunatics, and who keep the terroir authentically in spite of a slightly gossip spirit. Of course other customers are more than welcome in this discrete environment which can not afford too many bobos at the risk of getting a reputation that this country side does not deserve. Brancion castle is at walking distance and such a well kept, in good balance, stone architecture live museum. The oval table in the middle is just a perfect utilization of the space and views with a casual talking arrangement that no square table can offer. Enough said from a Swiss spirited mindset, it is quite a bunch of compliments already.
Highly recommended. A really enjoyable meal where the chef's interest is in concocting richly flavoured sauces to complement the simply cooked ingredients. No fashionably ephemeral decoration to the plates here though the presentation was attractive. The food was the thing and its well put together flavours were a delight. Perhaps no contrasts in texture and colour on the plate of the very finest starred restaurants but the high quality dishes offered very good value if not cheap. A la Carte or a choice of set menus. Prices ranged in price from €34 for a basic 3 course menu to my gourmet set price for 4 courses of €49. My sauté mushrooms in cream sauce was delicious. The traditional local dish of Poached Egg in red wine sauce was interesting if the strong sauce slightly overwhelmed the egg. Both the Steak and Chicken main courses were beautifully enhanced by their rich sauces. The Pear in red wine was outstanding as was the Apple Tart. Good selection of cheese. The wine list is very good and strong on local white Macon. However the a-typical local red Macon from the Gamay grape was very good and its lightness complimented both the steak and the chicken dishes. The decor was very modern and offered views through large picture windows down over the vineyards on the slopes below. The restaurant was quiet with tables well spaced to give a relaxed and very enjoyable dining experience and we had a good table next to the raging wood fire. Service was excellent. We stayed the night in this very comfortable hotel (see separate review of Hotel) and the breakfast in the larger dining room below was very good.
While only staying for one night two rooms, we fully enjoyed the best of what this simple yet timeless hilltop hotel has to offer: breathtaking views, absolute relaxation, spacious grounds, chilled ambiance, welcoming Team, nice pool, comfortable rooms (air conditioning, balcony, bedding, shower, wifi) we unfortunately did not have the opportunity to dine at their restaurant as we had an offsite commitment, however the outdoor terrace was beautifully set and the menu looked tantalizing. A very pleasant experience!
