Contribuiți la feedbackIt is great food with a nice choice. If you take one of the daily menus price/quality wise it’s an excellent option. Portions are good size, you won’t go hungry. So beware with the starter, much more will follow. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food/drinks.
We came here for the food as we had seen recipes from a book that originated here and the food is well prepared, quality ingredients and cooked well. Let's deal with the service first as it can set you off on the wrong foot, put bluntly the front of house is like being greeted by a Parisian waiter, we felt they were so well booked there was no need to be so nice. So that aside, to the food.... We took an amazing terrine and an even more amazing pressé. The terrine was meaty and moist served with a clever selection of salads, the pressé with Guinea fowl and foie gras was even better, with a clever lentil side and a superb fig-sticky-jam concoction. We took two main courses, a saddle roll of rabbit and stuffing, the sauce accompanying was delicious. We also had the fillet de bœuf rossini style, the meat was soft and cooked exactly as ordered, the fried foie gras just crispy on the outside, the sauce was served nearly cold but on a hot plate, a small error. More vegetables would have been nice but a tasty plate. Our main reason for the visit was to have the baked ice cream dessert they called a Norwegian omelette, on the menu it advised it was a minimum of four persons so we both had a little cry, at the end the lady we think is the head waiter advised if we call in advance they will make it for two. A reason to return! She did though advise another dessert cooked a similar way so we had that, a Vacherin I think the name was, meringue around layered ice cream, it was excellent and we strongly recommend keeping space for at least a share dessert here. Wine selection is wide and some decent half bottles so we were able to have a good white (local Crepy) with the starters and a St Emillion with the main. So go in with a big smile and enjoy the food which is for sure the best in La Chapelle (and we did eat in the Ensoleillé too) and don't worry about the service too much. And finally, my wife took the terrine and the rabbit plus a cheese course (a great selection from a rolling luge trolley) for 26 euros all in, ridiculously good value so do spot the deals.
