Contribuiți la feedbackIdeally located in the heart of the city. The dishes were average, with frozen baked pommes (quality was missing). The very friendly waiter. They would think the owners would use this potential jewel and make it a gastronomic highlight of the region. Definitely a Miss...if You want a good meal
On holiday, although the beautiful Lozères we drove on the way and began to pick blackberries....We suddenly realized that it was late for lunch and decided to stop in the picturesque Carnourgue at 1.20 a.m. We went to the first restaurant where local builders and half retired people eat. If locals were there, it was a good sign for us. The waiter welcomed us in a friendly local accent and told us that there was no problem eating at that time. He cleared a table in no time gave us the car. We chose the 19€ menu with a 50 cl Rosé wine to choose our thirst... array of first and second courses as well as deserts.... We both had served Almond Trout as the main course with creamy spinach and potatoes, plum tart and chocolate fondant for desert. When we got our espresso drunk, we were the last people in the restaurant. The owner of the lady or manager spoke to us in French and was very nice to chat with us in the region. We will definitely return next summer: We love the Citadel restaurant! Stop there and see yourself...
After a very long trip from Calais got quite late. The village is beautiful and this place was quite central and was very busy when we arrived. Popular with locals and tourists alike, I bet that is very busy in high season. (We tried to visit our return 3 weeks later, but found it closed on Monday). Good menu that had many local products on it. Mostly French cuisine, but wide enough to cover most taste. Good value house wines. Friendly efficient staff.
We stopped here en route back to the UK for what should have been a quick lunch, but due to slow service and a packed restaurant was about an hour just to get a steak-frites and a coffee. The food was ok, and average value...for money I suppose, but aside from the service the main problem was the flies. All of the outdoor tables were crawling with them. Even the diners inside seemed to be under attack. When our steaks arrived it was a question of wolfing it all down before the insects got it there, flailing desperately with menus and napkins. La Canourgue is a village d 'etape and we 'd stopped here a few years ago on the way down south and spent a very pleasant evening, eating in the same restaurant in fact, so it was a bit of a shame that the second experience was so negative.
We arrived late, at around 9 pm but they were willing to make us a meal. We chose a salad and some meats. Everything was served quickly and was quite delicious. This all came at a surprisingly low price. Definitely a recommendation if you are...staying in the area.
