Lizzie’s first impression: Great seating area, the most lovely staff and a great simple brunch menu. <br/ <br/ Lizzie enjoyed: I sometimes drive past and see this massive four beans café sign and I finally had the chance to try. The food was surprisingly delicious. I had a lamb salad which was cooked well and had a perfect combo of meat and salad ratio. The juices here are so fresh and delicious got myself a berry flavoured one and it was spot on. The scrambled eggs on toast with bacon was the most delicious dish I tried. The bacon was crispy and the scrambled eggs was cooked perfectly. <br/ <br/ Lizzie did not enjoy: I also treated myself to some delicious French toast that was delicious especially with the custard topping and although aesthetically, it didn’t look as pleasing as the other dishes, but the taste was spot on. <br/ <br/
We were invited to Four Beans today which is a massive warehouse style space roasters and cute cafe with a really homely ambiance about it. The staff were warm and welcoming and obviously very passionate about coffee. They roast on site and you can also see lots of the traditional equipment used historically which is fun for the Melbournian coffee buff. <br/ <br/ Today we tried the smashed avocado, chilli scrambled with a side of avo and the nourish bowl. All enjoyable dishes and mine had a perfectly poached egg. We also checked out the dessert cabinet which boasted a wide array of sweet treats the majority of which were handmade and vegan. We really struggled to choose but settled on a chocolate brownie, peanut butter gingerbread cookie sandwich and a raw date coconut and seeds bar, yum!
Four Beans is not just an amazing cafe delivering delicious food, they also produce their own coffee, Beraldo Coffee. A lovely, smooth blend; the coffee is sensational. This cafe is a massive space on the outer edges of the centre of Northcote, but it still feels warm and inviting. Lots of quirky touches add some personality to the room, and there is a lovely, sunny courtyard for when the weather is good.<br/ <br/ I found the staff and service to be impeccable, and they were very knowledgeable about their coffee and menu, which always is a bonus. We started with chilli scramble, and this dish was so full of flavour. Delicious eggs with the perfect amount of heat and spice, and the candied bacon was a delicious touch. I really enjoyed the combinations of flavours and found it very satisfying.<br/ <br/ The French toast was amazing as it used pain au chocolat as it's base
Four Beans is not only just a cafe but they also produce their own coffee under Beraldo Coffee, and supply to many businesses too. The cafe is a bit of a mini museum with giant machinery for grinding beans in the centre and smaller ones on display. And the coffee of course taste delicious!. The French Toast was prepared perfectly with very traditional flavour and nothing extravagant. It was very satisfying to have it made simply.
