I’ve wanted to come here for dinner for some time and I am so glad that I did. My partner and I had the best Scandinavian food here. <br/ <br/ The service was excellent throughout the night. We initial started w a Akvavit Board which was a flight of mini smorrebrod, and matching akvavit. OMGosh this was spectacular. The drinks were delicious and the matching food, amazing!!<br/ <br/ For mains we had a beef cheek, which just melted in my mouth. Just perfect.<br/ <br/ The pork was delicious and the skin was crispy. Yummo! The heirloom carrots were still crunchy and really tasty. <br/ <br/ The aranchini balls were yummy, and the meatballs were delicious and they came with a nice slice of picked cucumber.<br/ <br/ My boilermaker came with a beer, a akvavit and a mini smorrebrod. Once again this was soo good, and the whole night was just fantastic. <br/ <br/ If you haven’t been here this place is an absolute must visit, although they only do dinner Wednesday to First nights.<br/ <br/ I am definitely going back. This place was one of my highlights of 2020!
My friend had a wedding here and omg it's such a beautiful venue and didn't need much decor to make it nicer. <br/ <br/ The food was also really nice too, unfortunately I don't have the names of the dishes but I had a salmon and it was cooked to perfection! Love the lemon meringue tart dessert too!
What an awesome find this was, totally satisfying my craving for smørrebrød, a Danish open sandwhich on a slice of dense, lightly sweet rye bread.<br/ <br/ *Dild Sild! Oh the marinated herring! This is what I was craving for I could have had 5 of these. The herring is marinated and is still firm, juicy, lightly sweet and not overly fishy. The pickled red onions offset the herring with a beautifully sweet acidity.<br/ <br/ *Bla Ost The blue cheese has a light flavour, dense but still crumbly. It's not overly powerful as to punch you in the mouth with a week old sock like some blues do. The beetroot is soft and provides an earthy freshness. The onions are literally blow torched on the surface and provides a bite of smokiness. <br/ <br/ *Forloren Hare a slice of meatloaf with a crown of onion and blackcurrant chutney. You really need a bit of fruity chutney with each bite, as the meatloaf can be a little dry and heavy. <br/ <br/ Denmark House is actually a members club and it has that exclusive feel, but they are open to the public. Don't feel intimidated if you haven't been just head up the lifts to the third floor and you're greeted with minimalist design and large windows that let in natural light into the large dining room.
Obsessed with this spot, which is part restaurant and part social club. I went for dinner one evening and was surprised to see that there weren't many vegetarian options despite what I saw on the online menu, but the staff were willing to accommodate. I started with an akvavit flight paired with mini open faced sandwiches. For just $24, the flight felt like great value and was paired perfectly. I also drank a Mikeller beer which is pricey, but one of my favourite breweries and well worth the price. My main dish was the only veggie option, the vegetarian smørrebrød. Luckily, it was a bit different than what I got in the flight. It's at once fresh but also heavy, featuring raw fruit and veg as well as hard boiled eggs and a mayo-coated salad. It's a bit of an odd combo, but works surprisingly well together. My partner also had great things to say about the pork and potato dish. The space is a bit odd as well but in a really novel and pleasant way. It feels like a function hall and is a mix of cosy and minimalist and has ample room for groups.
