Arnolds Swiss Home Made Cakes

We had a mud cake for a family birthday today and it definitely delivered on rich chocolatey decadence. It tasted very indulgent and benefitted by being served with raspberries to cut through that intense chocolate flavour. Some cream would also do the trick to balance it out. Texture was impressive

Heard good things about Arnold's from a few friends so decided to try it out. The fruit flan here was one of the bests I have ever had!The short bread base was well balanced and the seasonal fruit was fresh. Definitely recommend to anyone who's visiting Heidelburg

I love Arnolds! My family have been getting our pies and cake needs met by Arnold's since my grandparents moved to HH in the 1960s! Not much has changed: classic pies, retro sweets and lovely staff who make coming here a real treat!

Soooooo Good !!. I 've been a customer of Arnold 's cakes in Heidelberg for 50+ years when as a young bride I moved into our first home in Reservoir and could not make the long trip to Prahran to get cakes from Patterson 's in Chapel Street as we only had one car. Mr. Eugster (Arnold) was the pastry cook and Mrs. Eugster ruled the front of shop and her small staff with a rod of iron pity any 'gentleman ' who didn 't open the door to let a cake laden lady out of the door or the poor soul who might inadvertently not take the correct turn at the crowded counter! Beneath Mrs. E 's fearsome exterior there also lurked a kind heart and my son (now 49) was often given a free 'frog cake ' a confection shaped like a pale green iced frog, sitting on a thin biscuit base with a smiling pale pink mouth of the smoothest butter cream. In those 50+ years, every special occasion in the lives of our family has been celebrated with an Arnold 's cake and we 've never been disappointed. When the Eugster 's retired, we feared that things would change (especially when we saw that seemingly very young men had taken over), but other than extending the range of wondrous offerings and not having a 'dragon lady ' in charge of the counter, Arnolds has kept producing the highest quality, totally delicious cakes and pastries. I 'm just about to order my husband 's 80th birthday cake from them only problem is I can 't decide between their 'Yarra Cake ' or a 'Black Forest Cake ' each made with the finest dark chocolate and liqueurs. Arnold 's wonderful Christmas offerings will also once again grace our Christmas table thank you Arnolds for all the joy you have brought to our family and we look forward to many more years of being one of your most satisfied customers.
