Soong Kee Beef Noodles Low Yau Kee Porridge

It has been 2 years since I visit this place. I think food wise, taste so so now. The mince beef/topping just has a salty taste to it. Though this time the topping is a lot more than before. The mix tripe beef is still okay. As usual parking is hard to get here but the people who eats here are usually fast. So just have to be patient.

I ordered their dry beef noodles, beef ball soup and poached chicken. This was my second round of dinner after just tried Shin Kee beef noodles, another famous eatery that is about 10-minute walk from here. Hence, I will be making some comparisons between the two places as I also had the dry beef noodle and beef ball soup at Shin Kee. The dry beef noodle here was served with some greens so that helped to balance the saltiness of of the minced beef sauce. But overall the dish still tasted slightly too salty for me. Their beef balls were more flavorful than those I just had at Shin Kee. I also ordered a portion of their poached chicken as it was highly recommended in the reviews. True enough, the chicken was really tender and succulent. This was partly due to the over generous amount of oil that was brushed onto the chicken before serving. My lips were smeared with a good coating of oil after every bite of the chicken. And that was not pleasant at all.

The best cattle noodle in town!! Your Porridge (chi chap cuk) is also a must try!! Do not forget to order her chicken, which is delicate, and the sauce fits well with Porridge!

This is truly a 老字號 (reputable) and the texture of the noodles and beef balls are just as I remembered it to be. The last time I was here, it was 10 years ago. Although, time has changed and the portion size appeared much smaller than it used to be. The ambience is much better now with air conditioned and it doesn’t feel as cramped. General environment also feels clean.

What a beautiful place. This noodle restaurant is so authentic with delicious food. You must try. Noodles were so delicious, beef balls were delicious and soup ingenious. The staff is so polite and friendly. The food is prepared immediately after the order.
