The Modern Cafe Brasserie - Koebenhavn

We had read the poor reviews of The Modern but we went anyway because we really liked the look of the menu and it was next door to our hotel. We had booked a table in advance. Things started really well the restaurant is a lovely space, nicely decorated. The staff were pleasant, they brought menus quickly, took our order and brought drinks in good time, and our starters arrived promptly and were really good. I was looking forward to writing a 5* review, but then our mains took forever to arrive. They arrived at 9.20, more than an hour and a half after our 7.45 booking. They were good, and nicely presented but just really late. Then no one came to clear them for ages and in the end I had to get up and ask for a dessert menu, and then, 10 minutes later get up again and ask someone to take our dessert order, at which point we were told the kitchen had closed and it was too late to have dessert. I was really cross (the desserts looked delicious! because if they had served our main course in a timely fashion or even taken our dessert order in good time, we would have been 30 or 40 minutes earlier. I did complain, but they just gave me a litany of excuses about new staff, not enough staff etc I tried to explain that as a customer that's not my problem, they shouldn't accept bookings if they don't have the staff to fulfil them!

Service was great and very responsive (dont recall young man's name but from Slovakia I believe). Nice outside seating area to people watch. Food was pretty average. We had octopus which was good but greasy. Washed away the taste with a couple of beers.

A great lunch in Köpenhamn. Servitören Rasmus was amazing, a sna lunch was mycket längre än tänked because Rasmus och bra service!

We came to a lunch, it took a little time before we were served and the food was long along. Otherwise the food was good, I ordered a clubsandwich it was slightly different when it was served with eggs but it tasted good.

Slow and inconsistent service. we had two different waiting staff and did not ask ourselves whether we wanted more water, drinks or how to eat. the place smelled like smoke and personal. super expensive for a small bowl pumpkin soup and really light wein pour.
