Contribuiți la feedbackThe food was excellent creative, beautifully presented and intensely flavourful Unfortunately, the drink menu was forgettable. The service was also not up to standard for such an establishment. The staff did not present the dishes to us, and poured different amounts in our glasses
Just a wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, and well thought out, and the wine/juice pairings were great. The service was lovely. Struggling to think of anything bad to say loved it!
Veve feels like a good mix between private dinning and a lounge. The small amount of tables and the comforting vibe makes people coming and going be less noticeable and the intimacy is preserved. None of the waiters seem to be native which explains an higher than typical level of service experienced at Danish restaurants serviced by uneducated waiters. Their energy is calm and attentive as they move around the somewhat cramped space leading me to one of my few points of critique. The space yet cozy is pretty packed with furniture. One less table and one less couch would do a lot for creating a little more space and make it easier to not frequently, involuntarily hear sound bites from next table conversations. Their rustic glass racks that are repurposed laundry carts at the end of the restaurant are also an eyesore IMO. The density of the furniture makes part of the space resemble an overstocked furniture show room. It was lovely coming in and being seated in one of their couches first with a glass of champagne and go through their snack menu before being moved to the dinner table. A little unorthodox as usually you move to more comfortable seatings after the dinner for coffee, sweets, cognacs and such but it works great and I’ll take that over a stiff barstool any day of the week. The comfort was a great way of grounding and connecting with your company, allowing you to be present before going on this flavorful gastronomic journey. The food was interesting, experimental, esthetically pleasing, daring and for the most parts very satisfying! Some of the dishes where an umami was present was a little overpowering of some of the other ingredients thereby indirectly highlighting those where the balance was superb. The creative combination of exotic and local ingredients made it challenging to guess how it-would come together, and it was fun how nothing from the visual appearance would give away how it would taste making it even more fun to dive in! I think they took much bigger chances with layers of flavor and complexity than what I experienced at restaurant Ark and it paid off! and for about half the price! Besides the champagne, we went with a juice pairing instead of the wine pairing. My sister, who I went with, had gone here when they first opened and was amazed by the flavors of the juices and the chilled teas that they had served her back then. However this time they only offered juices. Most of the juices were delicious and I think it’s great that there is offered a more elaborate non-alcoholic alternative to go with the different courses. I didn’t experience the same level of boldness and creativity with most of the juices, though they tasted like they came from fresh, quality produce. I do think some of the juices were too sweet and heavy, and did not pair well with the dishes. I would’ve preferred a combination of chilled teas and juices like my sister experienced when she visited the restaurant in it’s early days and with the current selection I would have preferred that the sweeter and thicker juices were served towards the end of the meal. Our aperitif which was a “shot” served in a glass tube offered something more playful and complex flavor yet it’s lower viscosity offered a better chance of having a interplay with the food. I hope they will reconsidering mixing more low viscosity beverages back into their non-alcoholic selection. The bread basket was one of those where you keep going back for more and if you are generally gluten allergic coming from abroad and outside of Europe, I highly recommend that you challenged your allergy a little, if it’s not a severe one as the gluten content in grains here tends to be fare less than that for instance what is typically found in wheat used in countries like the US because of their hybridization. A slightly bigger basket and bigger plates would’ve made it easier to limit the amount of crumbs that will unenviable spread over a great deal of the table from breaking it a part, making the waiters having to come by and sweep it up, but maybe that’s a gimmick to emphasize on the already great service. The lighting in the restaurant was pleasant but why we had a brighter, white bulb in ours mismatching the more pleasing traditional yellow light bulb that most other tables had I don’t know and it seemed like a oversight. Bathrooms were inviting and again carried a soothing environment like in the restaurant, reminding me of bathrooms in Southern parts of Mexico. Because of the soothing and grounding environment, I think this place is ideal for couples and small parties of friends who want a flavorful, fun experience. This is vegetarian that can also accommodate those with a plant-based diet without it subtracting from the experience. I hope to have another experience at Veve again in the future or one of their other restaurants.
The most delicious and elegant vegetarian meal I've ever got. One right after the other tasted wonderful and prepared and served in the most beautiful way. All flavors came in games. Very attentive and friendly service all the evening and elegant regarding diabetes. Each penny worth.
Really good service, food and atmosphere! You start in soft relaxing sofas with some snacks and drinks
