Lake Of The Woods Rec Area

I had a wonderful time kayaking here! I even saw fish jumping out of the water. It was an incredible experience.

We had an amazing weekend! We were fortunate enough to spend Easter here, and the drive was smooth with just a few snow showers while we were visiting. I can't say enough about the beautiful grounds, fantastic amenities, attentive staff, and stunning views. We usually come in the summer for the lake, but in winter, there's so much to enjoy! Make sure you don't miss out on winter at Lake of the Woods!

The customer service was extremely disappointing. Recreation.gov is a frustrating site to navigate for camping reservations. When I called Lake of the Woods, the staff seemed uninterested and claimed they had no connection to the camping reservations. Essentially, you can't book a site online, and good luck reaching anyone on the phone; I was on hold for over an hour. I will not be returning to this place, as there are many better options available elsewhere.

We were fortunate to find an excellent campsite that felt quite secluded compared to others. The forest was stunning, and we spotted some wildlife, including deer, chipmunks, and lizards. Although the lake was crowded with visitors, the water was just the right temperature for a hot 100-degree day. I definitely plan to return!

We decided to visit Lake of the Woods after attempting to go there in January but being turned back due to heavy snow. Upon arrival, we paid a $7 day fee to access three areas: Rainbow Bay, Aspen Point Campground, and Sunset Campground. We spent a considerable amount of time at Sunset, where my daughter's boyfriend tried his hand at fishing and had a great time. We relaxed, enjoyed some Hawaiian music, and snacked on the food and drinks we brought along. To wrap up our day, we explored the resort's General Store and restaurant before heading over to Aspen Point. Overall, we would definitely come back!
