Da Lucio - Kingston upon Thames

We recently dined at Da Lucio for the first time this week, and we were impressed with the authenticity of the restaurant. The atmosphere was very Italian, frenetic, and lively, and the menu was also very evocative of Italy. However, there were several points that could be improved upon. The bread basket we started with (which was not complimentary like in some Italian restaurants) was stale and the olives were quite tasteless. The portions were generous, though. My partner's spaghetti Carbonara was delicious, but not entirely authentic as it had cream added, which is not traditional. My mixed grilled fish was decent, but underseasoned and the portions were not worth the £21 price tag. We also ordered a side salad which was lackluster.

I had a simple yet satisfying spaghetti with pesto at this restaurant, followed by their signature chocolate pot. The portion sizes were small but enough, and the service was flawless. However, I wished they had served a little bread with the pasta and that the pesto wasn't so watery. Overall, it's a bright and lively place.

We love this restaurant in the countryside, with a great atmosphere and delicious food. However, our recent experience was disappointing. We were seated quickly and given menus, but then waited a long time for the rest of our meal. It seemed like we were at a table that was forgotten about, as the service was slow and our food order was delayed. Other tables around us, who arrived after us, were served promptly. We waited for over half an hour before our dinner finally arrived. By then, we were too frustrated to order more drinks or dessert. The overall experience was disappointing.

Great neighboring restaurant. we've been here for a few years and have a bad meal. the pizzas are the best in the city incomparable to the pizzas in the chain restaurants. large selection of appetizers and pastas also. specials are good to especially the filled courgette flowers they do in summer! yum! it can be quite loud at weekends, so we usually go in the week. highly recommended!

Simply the best little italian in the Surbiton area. Great food, full of flavour. Some of the best chilli oil I've ever had! Tables a little packed in but all adds to the atmosphere.
