Nice atmosphere. No musak, kids or dogs a blessing. Chairs hard but there are comfy ones in the lounge area. Nice toilets.
Comfortable, clean rooms, great food and friendly staff. For me as a business traveler, connectivity is essential therefore the quick, reliable and free WiFi was an added bonus. Would strongly recommend.
Went to the Crown, Middleton for an evening meal as it was my wife's Birthday. After about 15 minutes we ordered our starters and main meals. We got our starters within a reasonable time, which I must add weren't exactly mind-blowing. However, we had to wait a further 50 minutes before we were served our main courses. The waiter beforehand, who seemed a little inexperienced, did apologise at some time for the long delay. My fillet steak was fine but my wife's ribeye steak was virtually all gristle and inedible. When it was first brought to our table the ribeye appeared all lumpy and scraggly looking on the plate, so in my opinion, any experienced chef should have picked up on this. When it came to paying the bill the ribeye was complimentary but I still had to pay for my wife's side dishes. Overall, spoilt what should've been a Birthday evening to remember and will be for all the wrong reasons. Not at all not impressed and wouldn't go back there again.
Visited here on a Sunday evening by recommendation whilst staying the area for a few days. Firstly there were flies everywhere, very off putting making it very difficult to eat. The food was bland and dreadful, I had a beef goulash which, as well as a tiny portion, was baked for far too long and was hard and dry perhaps it had been microwaved? . Others meals were unseasoned and pastry on steak and ale pie was undercooked. In fairness, the one meal that tasted ok was my sons sirloin steak. When asked find we enjoy our meal I said no which was greeted with oh and the waitress walked away and didn't come back. Family on other table also complained of tough meat but by the looks on their faces left unhappy too. Perhaps we just visited on a bad day but really can't see what would warrant such high marks.
We have had several meals here. It is a nice quaint village pub and the food is very nice. I find the menu a bit boring if you go too often and I tend to have the same thing every time. Perhaps a nice pork dish in a creamy white wine sauce, lovely!!!! Having said that it is fine if you don't want anything too posh although a little pricey for a pub in general the food is good quality/
