So, I needed some homebrew supplies and thought I 'd head to an old shop I frequented years ago when I lived in Harker Heights. Turns out the little mom pop relocated to central Killeen and is now a hybrid operation housing both homebrew supply and a full-scale brewery. A very quick trip for a simple hydrometer yielded a $100 bill for an assortment of things I most certainly needed , a 2-hour brewery hang, and very well-balanced and pleasing conversation with the mad scientist of the establishment himself, John. What was an otherwise arbitrary Wednesday turned out to be a very cool surprise discovery of, what I think is, a Top-5 central texas brewery. I sampled about 75% of the beers and not one false note. Irrelevant Blonde Hooah should be flagship beers across the state as the execution on both is nothing short of spectacular- extremely balanced unequivocally unique for our market. As a side note, this is a true gentleman in the industry for all the efforts put into local non-profit support of the community. Conclusion, 10/10 solid brewery through-and-through managed by one of the best heads in the game. Thanks for such a great experience and badass drinking experience! Cheers!
The beer is great, and the bartender Curves is the best!
How did I not find out about this hidden gem right around the corner from my hote soonerl? Great atmosphere, awesome beers and super cool staff. Tori and Patsy are awesome!
This is the only craft brewery in Killeen. I have been to hundreds of craft breweries (without exaggerating and I would say this one is above average. They can easily compete with the breweries in Austin without the hour drive. The Staff I have met the owner, Nick, who is a veteran and gets the concept of what a craft brewery should be, which is not always the case with some breweries. The head brewer, Mark, is very knowledgeable and does great work. They are focused on the process and the details. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. They will encourage you to drink water after you 've had 4 or 5 too...The beer They beer is good, but keep in mind it will not taste familiar. Many people complain that craft beer isn 't good because they are not used to craft beer. Get a couple flights and you will find one you like. They have a decent variety of styles. Not every one will be your favorite. Keep an open mind. I personally like the Silver Knight the best. If you didn 't find one you like give the a few months and come back. They will have new beers. This is the true benefit of being a microbrewery. They always have something going on (live music, trivia, karaoke, etc. . They do rotating food trucks which are always bomb.Check out their facebook page before you go to see what you 're in for lol.My only critique would be the tap room seems uninviting and cluttered at first. They have been making many changes in the last few months and that has improved. I 'm sure they are not done yet. If you had a bad experience in the past I encourage you to try it again. They are building from the Iron Gauntlet (the former brewery in the same spot and have been open less than a year as of this post. Things have probably changed by now.Disclaimer: I have no conflicts of interest or financial investment in this company. I 'm like Zaphod Beeblebrox, just this guy, you know? I just love craft beer and want to see veteran owned companies be successful. So please take my advice: set aside some time Saturday night and get a couple of flights and maybe a growler. Cheers!
