Harpers - Kilkenny

Nice food, nice staff, great atmosphere, can not recommend enough

We booked Harpers for my Daddy's 70th Birthday and it couldn't have been any better. Firstly when ringing up to book the staff on the phone were so helpful emailing me across menu and table options 10mins after our phone call. We booked the private dinning room as there was 20 of us (mix of adults and children) this room was perfect for a large group with small children as they had the freedom to walk about without annoying other guests. We went for the 3 course set menu which was amazing!! At the price of 30 euro per person we were expecting small portions and average food however the portions were very large and the food was 5 stars. During our meal the staff were very attentive and chatty which really rounded up the whole experience. We don't live near Kilkenny but if we go back (which we plan to) we will definitely be visiting Harpers again.

Main reason for choosing this place was vegan burger and vegan apple tart for desert. Burger was ok, nothing special, and vegan desert turned out to be a mistake on the menu—it’s not vegan. Disappointed!

Yet another disappointing lunch time experience at Harpers restaurant. Food is just above basic for a restaurant setting. Lacks imagination and flavour. Now as for the service yesterday at lunch time. Wow, close to ignorant behaviour from the girl waitress. And the kitchen staff timing to plate up food for one table alone with 4 people is all over the place. Salmon Bagel is stodgy and bland!

Went here for dinner with a hen party on a saturday night. I wasnt drinking but the food they served was only suitable for people who were drunk. Very poor choice on the menu and the food really wasnt great. The soup was quite horrible and the service was poor.
