Contribuiți la feedbackOnce again, I had not ordered food due to a bursting appointment, the program of Mensa did not sound really tempting, so on to a restaurant. From the host house I had already heard good things, while at reasonable distance you can park on the exerzierplatz for a fee, but otherwise without problems. I entered the restaurant and was kindly greeted by an employee standing behind the counter. But then she did not make institutions to assign a table to me in the almost empty room, and so I was looking for a place myself. On the table lay a note with the lunches of the week, the regular card stuck in a holder. Otherwise there was a stoneware beer rug on the table with cutlery and napkins in it and a stump candle on a flat metal lamp. I had looked at the lunch offer and also consulted the regular card, and when I folded it, a service came to the table quite quickly and asked for my wishes. I ordered the lunch offer „Schweinenackensteak mit Bratkartoffeln und Salat, Dessert (6.50 € and a small special. It was also served promptly well-tempered, but in a glass without a oak coat. Just a little later the service came back and brought the food. On the plate two slices of pork neck with plenty of dark sauce, a heap of roast potatoes and the whole with salad quite neatly garnished. A small glass with a dessert spoon was placed in it next to the plate. The roast potatoes looked very good, with bacon and onions and with proper roasting areas. From the consistency they seemed to have been kept warm for a long time. The deeper I came in the heap, the more burned places had the potatoes, but also bacon and onions were not only partly completely black. The meat proved to be very firm in the incision – not tough! – so the knife had problems to cut. The seasoning was good, only the meat itself had this typical taste that a neck steak assumes when it gets cold, and which one does not get away by renewed heating. The second piece was better in this respect, but as solid as the first one. The best thing about the whole plate was the salad, nice crunchy fresh. When the service came by and asked if everything was okay, I explained that I had the impression that the food had been kept warm for a long time. Completely disgusted, she replied that it could not be, she swears that everything was fresh and departed. Meanwhile, I had collected the numerous black-charred pieces on the edge of the plate and stopped further consumption. A short attempt at the dessert served in the glass brought about a caappucino cream of rubber-like consistency, garnished with a Klecks spray cream and some chocolate spices. That's what I was trying to do. Then the operation came back to my table and explained that it was reported in the kitchen and the cook was now insulted. But when she saw the collection of charred pieces on the edge of the plate, she also meant that it was not right. However, a different reaction or the offer of a compensation did not occur. Conclusion: In the form I experienced a clear No Go! Roughened meat and mushy, burned roasted roasted potatoes with a dessert originating only from the tanks of large-scale chemistry, for this, even 6,50 € are too expensive. The treatment of my complaint was also completely unprofessional. I know they can do better there, but I will avoid this “host house” until further notice.

What a great place, the staff is friendly, fast and very helpful, the food was outstanding. Had the schnitzel with potatoes, mushroom gravy and beer gravy on the side, it was perfect! The strudel came with fresh whip cream and vanilla ice cream with chocolate on the plate. Perfect meal with perfect service.
Das Wirtshaus was close to my hotel. I made a reservation but arrived late as I got lost in Kiel looking for the restaurant. When I arrived late at 8 PM, the waitress was very snippy and said that seating outdoors was closed for the day. Although the restaurant was open until 11 PM, the jaitress said that there were no tables available inside and that the restaurant was closing. In reality, closing time was 3 hours later at 11 PM. By then there were two other jaitresses by her side for lying for support. She lied, was rude, bitter, unprofessional and didn't care about her restaurant or her guest.
Awesome Food, pricing very competitive, very close to Kiel's Center. We had Schweinshaxen and Sauerkraut, some Hefeweizen Beer, all in all perfect. Yes, the Restrooms are downstairs, but clean and who cares anyways? Service is friendly and prompt. The Interior is very rustic, clean, lots of large Windows. You'll feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. Parking is very close by and reasonable. A great Find.
