The Grove Bistro and Lounge - Kelowna

It was a chaotic place a couple of years ago. Went back recently...the service was much better and the food was very good. Looks like the menu has been changed since our last visit. There is a young (maybe Russian) waiter that is super friendly. Still a bit of a wait, but worth it!

We've eaten here a couple of times, each with the hope the menu has improved or they've maybe found a decent chef. Nope! Stopped in last night and the food was at best uninspired. I had the Rueben and usually they're stacked to the roof..this one was greasy and just some meat slapped between two pieces of very soggy bread. The fries were over salted. My husband had the penne alfredo and added the shrimp for an extra $6.00. I guess you could call them shrimp, maybe those who were considered the runts of the litter. That and a small bowl of pasta for $20. The bread was white, doughy and the kind you buy and bake from the supermarket. After just dining at Ricardo's where the shrimp are bigger than your head and the food is to die for, this was pretty ridiculous. Twice burned, twice shy. Never again...

We ate at the Grove based on pictures on the hotel's website. Our server was very nice, and the appetizers were very good. However, when our main meal arrived it was very disappointing. All three of us had mashed potatoes with the meal and they were obviously made from powdered mix - really horrible. They should have realized that when all three of us left them on the plate! My salmon was overcooked and dry, as were my friends chicken dishes. The soup was very good though. Sadly, I would not choose to eat here again.

The Grove Bistro offers weekend special breakfasts at an exceptional cost of $5.95, for which you choose your style of two eggs (except not poached), 4 bacon OR 4 sausages OR 2 of each, 2 slices of your choice of toast, potatoes and coffee. The Sunday we arrived, they were extremely busy and we had to wait half an hour (or longer) for our meal. The service and server were excellent despite other issues.
