Contribuiți la feedbackI came here straight from Kelowna airport with my colleague and we were starving. We didn't do a wine tasting first so our server was very helpful in explaining each wine and recommending pairings. We ordered the salmon blueberry gravlax, the cheese and charcuterie board, the elk pizza, and my colleague ordered a steak with a chimichurri sauce that was fantastic. The pizza was ok nothing to rave about. But the salmon and charcuterie board were also great.
When we arrived here on a Tuesday at 7, there was a line, but we were seated within about 15 minutes. While we waited, we were offered complimentary glasses of sparkling wine. There is a wine tasting area along with a lovely water garden. The premises has a very positive feel to it. We were seated in the patio area which has wonderful views. We ordered the stuffed peppers as an appetizer. They were good except they were a little cool when they arrived and had a slight crunch. Then I got the elk pizza with feta and onion and that was delicious. My colleague got the prosciutto pizza. I tried some of it but the sauce didn't seem to blend as well with the other flavors with that one. I also enjoyed two glasses of a pinot noir, and would've bought a few bottles, except that I had to fly back and didn't want to risk packing them. The service was excellent. I would definitely dine here again the next time I'm in Kelowna.
Sunset Organic Bistro came highly recommended by our Airbnb Host. We ordered Clams and Mussels which was fresh and cooked to perfection with an earthy tone broth, next was Beet's Salad with all ingredients which felt like they we're just hand picked and nice vinaigrette and finally complimented with Pork Belly Korean BBQ, shredded cabbage, fried egg, Go Chu Jang. It's funny I'm from Australia and growing up there we are very spoilt by our carnivorous selections, Pork Belly is usually served in inch squared cuts with marinated flesh and crispy crackled skin, what we were served is commonly consumed as pork rib chops. I love Pork and can't get enough of this and perform the dishes at home, Pork Belly takes 24-48 hrs to prep for perfect crackle and marinated flesh and only 60 minutes to bake. Pork rib chops, marinated 2 hrs and grilled, BBQ, or pan fry 15 minutes tops. Well disappointed about the pork chops, but did love the Korean Charred BBQ marinate, fried egg and Go Chu Jang sauce. Ambiance was flawless, Sunset awesome, views of Okanagan Lake/Kelowna City breathtaking, staff impeccable and friendly with great knowledge of pairing wines with meals (which I don't). All in all great dining and ambiance, up.
5 delightfully plated, exquisite, tasting dishes!I felt compelled to take a picture of each. Our waitress was also the supplier of all the floral garnishes and herbs. The chef, Chef Aleksander's passion for food is displayed in taste and presentation.Care in detail that's the key!No hammering my taste buds Each ingredient was allowed to shine in every dish. Subtle extra touches like pickled mustard seed, basil flowers or dandelion. The water melon salad was so fresh its hard to believe it was not picked just moments before it was plated. The lobster was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The home made, toasted, fire grilled bread was fabulous. The sirloin was soft and wonderful its accompanying veggies perfectly cooked and flavoured. The Burrata plate was so great the shell was firm and the creamy middle soft, its texture was perfect. It's hard not to say enough good things The desert was fabulous tooRich and not over bearing in sweetness Wow chef Aleksander it's been a while since I've been this happy! The service was perfect the view amazing the food tremendous 5 well deserved stars!!!
We enjoyed our visit to the Summerhill Pyramid Winery, the tasting was great, the wine was wonderful. We opted to stay for lunch - very unique menu, we shared the pork belly which was tasty but a little too fatty for me. The asparagus was just okay, the Nasi Goreng was excellent we opted for the added organic chicken breast - not worth the $17 up charge. Overall the food and service were good just not exceptional which I would expect for the price point. We waited a long time for food. Lunch for two with wine by the glass was just over $100.
