Saturday night. Booking seemed to go awry despite us have a mailed confirmation. However the manager was happy to confirm a table for us it didn't seem overly busy in the front area but a couple behind without a reservation was turned away. Whatever. The service was friendly and prompt, drinks mis messaged somewhere but easily sorted. The food 3 risotti and a pizza with side salads was good, well presented and plentiful; pizza could have been more blistered I didn't get that either ; but altogether it was a very enjoyable meal for our last dinner in Kelowna before heading out the next day. Location is in Mission Creek out of Kelowna Central, which we would not have known about with internet search. There may be enough life nearby but it seemed a standalone spot.
Basil and Mint is a delicious restaurant with lots of potential. The restaurant is cute and romantic, and the patio is gorgeous. The food was excellent but a little oily, and our service was decent. I had the house-made Gnocchi to start which was served in a delicious tomato sauce. My entree was the chicken breast and fusilli pasta dish which was really tasty. Great portions for the price. Good place to go for a date night.
The atmosphere is nice. The server was decent but not engaging. We had a reservation for 5:45, the restaurant opens at 5:00. After being seated and ordering our appetizer we were informed they were out of the appetizer we ordered. They were also out of the beer we ordered. Ended up ordering spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was cooked perfectly however the meatballs were dense and overworked as well as barely room temperature when served. The pasta sauce was a bit on the sweeter side. The short ribs were delicious. Overall, not a bad experience but not worth $100 CAD, for two entrees, one glass of sparkling wine and a bottle of sparkling water.
