Big Z's Pizza House Brew - Katy

$40s for the worst pizza we have ever tried. I say we (all four of us). At first I thought it was just me, but no one had a second piece and we just looked at each other and said this is awful . Deep dish specialty pizza half white pizza half monster pizza. Maybe it was an off day for them. Half the pizza was burnt. Completely charred. No gooey melty cheese existed. Made it very dry. Uneven oven temp? Idk. The crust was hard and in some spots not cooked all the way. Very heavy on the fennel, strong black licorice flavor.

Wad pleasantly suprised by the environment. Felt like a classic neighborhood pizza joint with a twist of local watering hole. Like the partial bar and we'll placed TVs. The music on Monday was oldies (Love oldies! 40's to 60's). Nice craft draft beer selection. Dude at the bar (don't recall his name) was polite and friendly, definitely a big plus. Order the wings with the Big Z rub. Not normally a fan of dry rubs, but this one was very tasty and mixed with the smoked wings was gloriously good! Next time will try a thin crust pie and maybe a homemade dessert.

We were on the hunt for a deep dish pizza place in Houston and after extensive research, we chose BIG Z's. It's a family-run business where Bob and Tony provided us with an amazing experience. We started with meatballs as an appetizer and opted for the Tex-Mex pizza as our main dish. The flavors were incredibly fresh and tasted homemade. We really appreciate when owners take a few moments to connect with customers and share the story behind their business. It made for a very personalized experience that we will definitely repeat. BIG Z's is absolutely a place we will return to. Additionally, they offer a great selection of beers, especially the orange cream variety!

The restaurant features fresh ingredients and all homemade recipes, complemented by a wonderful staff and a welcoming family atmosphere. Their pizza might just be the best in Texas! Additionally, they have an impressive selection of beers.

This is my second visit to this restaurant, as we've been on the hunt for a great deep-dish Chicago-style pizza. This place serves an excellent deep dish with a wide variety of toppings. They also offer good tea and have a friendly staff. The only drawback is that it has been quite warm inside on both occasions. While they do have a swamp cooler that helps when you're seated near it, it can get uncomfortable if you're not. Despite that, we absolutely love the food and appreciate the friendly service!
