Blackburn's Katoomba Family Hotel

Travelled up to Katoomba from sanctuary point just south of Nowra NSW for two nights to see the sights. On arriving we walked on over to the Family Hotel and where greeted by friendly staff enquiring as to where we had driven from and what our plans where for our visit, we returned later that evening for Dinner, Myself the Rump steak and vege's my wife the salt and pepper squid both meals we could not fault. The service and quality so good we backed up again for lunch the next day. Recommend this hotel for any one wanting good food and friendly staff, It made for a great little getaway.

Chicken Parmy was great. Staff took the surprise out of "surprise", when they asked if we wanted the birthday cake brought out. Wouldn't recommend for people over 6ft, all the seat bottoms were small which made it uncomfortable to sit. This review is as honest as it can get.

We asked "where's a good place to eat around here?" (family with three kids under 10) Katoomba Falls Tourist Park said best go to The Family Hotel. Warm and very comfortable, excellent very friendly service and great food. Perfect prices, big serve especially the steak. Easy parking, place is not big so I'd book ahead.

The dining room lacked atmosphere - no background music created an almost awkward environment as tables were positioned close to one another. Waiters took no interest in customer service and forgot basic requests like water and the bill! The cutlets were tough, gristly and over cooked. I would never go back.

My partner and I were wandering around Katoomba today looking for a place to have some lunch and get out of the cold (surprisingly hard) when all of a sudden, there it was! A pub meal! Perfect! We were greeted as we walked in by one of the nicest women I have ever met, Lisa. She was very welcoming and so helpful, showing us the restaurant tucked in the back, asked where we were from, how our day was going, what we were up to in Katoomba (we were planning our wedding) she told us about the rooms they had available for the next time we stopped in and even let us have a look at one. Then the lunch! My god. I had the Balmoral Chicken and my partner had the Steak Diane Pot pie. Sensational! Great portions and so tasty. And apparently it wasn't even the head chef in today! So props to the guy filling in because just wow. Thanks guys!!
