G Qurban Shinwari - Kasur

I absolutely adore the roasted lamb at this restaurant. It's tender, succulent, and the marinade is outstanding. I highly recommend it.

Qurban Shinwari restaurant - Raan! Chapli kebab! Spicy karahi! Duumba! One of the few places offering authentic Peshawari (or Pashtun) cuisine in Lahore, they are situated in Raiwind Bazar opposite the railway station. This market, almost like a mini Peshawar, would make any Pashtun homesick; nearly every shop is run by a Pashtun. A strong recommendation led us to try the restaurant Raan, so we called ahead 3 hours in advance and ordered 4 legs. Each leg weighed about 2.5 kg at a very reasonable cost of Rs.1800/kg, easily serving 3 to 4 people. The meal began with raita, salad, and tangy Imli/Anar dana chutney. As they were out of Chapli kebabs, we opted for the karahi. Interestingly, they offered two variations: Sulemani dry Peshawari style karahi and masala karahi cooked in tomatoes - we chose the Sulemani karahi. The meat, particularly the duumba (lamb), was exceptionally tender and flavorful. The raan was served with Kabuli pulao, a perfect complement with its authentic Afghan flavors. The karahi was delicious and paired perfectly with the Kandhari naan. To top it off, they served Peshawari qehwa with jaggery and lemon, a soothing end to the meal. Every bite was heavenly, making us long for more. A true taste of Pukhtoon cuisine in Lahore. Remember to mention that Hunger Therapy recommended this gem! Stay tuned for more unbiased reviews.
