The Rieger - Kansas City

4.5 stars if Google would allow it. My wife and I were so thankful to have been able to get reservations before the restaurant close down. Howard Hanna opened the Rieger and Manifestos nearly a decade ago and has recently decided to close November 1st, 2020. After reading many articles I find that the story is inspiring as it mentions his main reasoning being time with his young family. The pandemic in the US has not only slowed his business, but opened his eyes to what he is missing. Beautiful Food For The People has always been his hashtag and it shows through even on his last days. Our service was perfect and while timed so other guests could enjoy the restaurant before closing was sensational. I am a huge whiskey fan and Rieger has always been among my favorites in mixed drinks. While we have our fingers crossed that Howard and his partner will reopen the restaurant as a fellow small business owner we can understand why this choice made so much sence.

This place is the poster child for fine dining. 100% tasteful every single visit. You will impress any date you take.

So glad I got to come here before they close! Service, atmosphere, and the food were all absolutely stellar! Their pork soup was the best soup I've ever eaten, and their pork chop was heavenly! Our waiter was very helpful while we were deciding, and so patient with our indecision, even on a busy Friday evening. I'm so sad I won't get another chance to go back, and I hope that someday in the post pandemic future, they get another shot!

Last Saturday we made it a Saturday Funday visit a few local places in Crossroad areas. This was our favorite stop finishing off our evening. There was a fall chill in the air. We stopped here for one of the cities best pork soups ! We had some really great handcrafted cocktails. Mine was a sweet-sage drink. Sad to hear this place is needing to go dark, but we understand their situation. If they do open back up, we will def be some of the 1st to head back !!! Love your food and service-top notch
