I visited the area and was recommended this place, and I'm so glad I did. You really can't go wrong here. It's incredibly cozy and inviting.
I didn't have to wait long for a table for two on a Sunday morning, but larger groups of four or more were advised to be a bit patient. There's outdoor seating along the sidewalk, which is nice. The hostess greeted us warmly, and our server was equally pleasant. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The French toast was delicious, and the sweet potato hash, packed with veggies and topped with avocado, was simply outstanding. There's ample seating throughout the restaurant, and the bar area has a charming rustic decor. Metered parking is available nearby. ~Christy
Now, let's talk about the food—it was delicious! I ordered the Hashes with corn beef, which came loaded with a variety of vegetables, sweet potatoes, a poached egg, and a choice of protein. It was great to find a healthy option that was also incredibly tasty. My husband opted for the biscuits and gravy, which he also enjoyed. He had fresh-squeezed orange juice with his meal, priced at $3.50 for a small glass—a very reasonable cost. Overall, their prices were competitive, and our total bill came to $23, which I consider quite fair for the quality of food we received. Our server, Chloe, was attentive and friendly, enhancing our dining experience. I would definitely recommend checking out The Corner Restaurant. Just be mindful of your time, as parking can be a challenge.
The servers and management are always very nice. And I wouldn't turn down The Corner Restaurant if a friend wanted to go there. But, the food quality just isn't great in my book. They have an intriguing menu, but I always leave wishing I'd had a better meal. I got the Meshuggah bagel sandwich which had a fried egg, bacon and caramelized shallot cream cheese. The cream cheese and bacon were both yummy. But the egg was disgraceful. It was more like a hardboiled egg in the shape of a fried egg. The yolk was hanging out of the sandwich, clearly as stiff as can be, and the chef still sent it out. The hash brown potato that came with, tasted like it had just been removed from the freezer and defrosted... not great. All in all, I didn't love my experience at The Corner Restaurant. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was great.
Absolutely amazing, again! Second time I have been there. I don't live in KC so I only have the opportunity every once in a while. Hangover Cure I had this this time pictured.
