Cafe Trio - Kansas City

We dined here on a Saturday evening with a group of 8 people. It took us 2 hours to receive our food. When we asked why it was taking so long, we were told we are a 2 hour restaurant . That 's fine and I can live with that. What I can 't live with is having to ask time and again to have our water refilled, it taking 30 minutes to receive our first drink, and never being offered another round of cocktails over 2 hrs!. There are plenty of bad waiters out there, but the unapologetic and almost confrontational attitude of both the manager and owner was over the top. The owner went so far as to email us detailing why it was either not their fault or it was our fault including their kitchen is very small (not an excuse , ordering a steak medium-well (this steak was no more than 1 1/2in thick , and how we were requiring too much time from the waiter (so sorry for wanting that 2nd drink after 2 hrs! . I 've dined at hundreds of restaurants and have never felt compelled to write a review until now. Worst experience ever!

Cafe trio is one of my fav spots in kc. Every time I go I love it! The staff is great. The food is great. The live piano music is so fun. Drinks are wonderful. I will continue to go back here. Specials are always great too!

Fabulous happy hour and a great patio. Service was fast and friendly. Can't wait to come back and try something new.

My partner and I dined at Cafe Trio Monday evening and were delighted to discover that Mondays are all day happy hour! The delights didn't stop there the patio was perfectly sheltered from the evening sun and the food was amazing (the tomato soup might be the best in KC). However, the service is what truly stood out. Our server, Richard, was the most attentive and friendly server we're experienced in a long time. We'll definitely be going back.

The staff was accommodating to our seating requests upon arrival. Loved the patio area! The tomato soup was AMAZING, and the butter cake was delicious. What really stood out was their service— the gentleman waiting our table last night was so on top of it. Quick refills, checking in on us, and super friendly. His service was the best we’ve had in probably a year, and it stood out as the highlight of the place.
