Ichiriki - Kaneohe

Ichiriki is offering take out at 20% discount for a limited time. However, I didn't know you had to cook it yourself. Luckily I had the hot pot to cook it in. It turned out actually fun and delicious. It came with all of the ingredients you need. All I had to do was to heat up the broth and throw everything inside.

This was my go to hotpot, but just came by tonight for my sisters last night before heading out of town. We ordered food, appetizers came out at an okay time, a little longer than usual. Okay we 'll let it pass... then we waited about an hour for our hotpot, finally came out and the server said something about they didn 't understand the order I put in okay... cool.... We finally got our food then I find a hair in my soup.. it was a small black hair, my hair is blonde... sooo I was like alright they are having bad night and yeah kinda gross but I won 't complain because i feel bad. Then the server said since you guys spend over $50, you get to pick a card- it can be money, a dessert, blah blah blah.. so my sister picked a card and opened it ... the server said oh no you aren 't supposed to open it, let me tape it then she came back and said we can 't have another one because we aren 't supposed to open it. She knew she was at fault for not telling us the rules. Spoke to the manager and he said that the owners are very serious about the rules and although it was definitely the servers fault, he can 't fix it. He said he would call the GM. Honestly, I just got done with a 12 hour shift and we have been at this restaurant for almost 2 hours. Seriously??? I feel like the manager could have handled this situation so differently. I know the serving business I used to be a server. Customer service is essential. Never in my life would I believe I would give this place a bad review. I heard you guys work on tips. BIG MISTAKE! (Pretty Woman) Long story short- BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. We didn 't complain about anything the whole night, and that just topped the cherry, no apologies to our table.

This is one of the popular choices to go and have happy hour or a nice dinner amongst friends. I still do recommend making reservations as it does get quite busy during peak dinner hours. Especially on cold rainy days! This is the hot spot those nights. Luckily, I was able to get reservations during happy hour on that day. With a rather large party of 6. Super stoked on that. Menu hasn't really changed since the beginning. However, prices have. But so has everywhere else! During happy hour, they do have a Kobe beef chanko set. However, I like to get my other meat and upgrade my broth to curry. FYI, if you order curry brother and Zosui, they'll give you a dish of grated cheddar cheese and pickled daikon (like the ones from curry house). It's like an extra meal! Another thing I love. Peach sochu! You can order it by the glass or pitcher. Hahha. They also have a nice selection of desserts. Ask what the flavor of the month is for ice cream as it changes after the tub runs out. Tons of free parking in the Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center lot.

All you can eat meat special $38. Can't go wrong since it included the unlimited fountain drinks and the one scoop ice cream. Great choices of meat and apps. The karaage chicken was a favorite as the included appetizer choice. Another fave is the Ichiriki salad and tofu salad. Rice is included but I preferred eating the Ichiriki salad with the short ribs minus the croutons. Sake sampler at $12 was the perfect compliment to my meal. Service can be slow if restaurant is full as to be expected. We had to remind our server on a few things but it was no biggie. Enjoy!

So glad my favorite hot pot place is located in my hood. And what's great about this particular location is that on this particular visit, we walked in on a spur of the moment without a reservation and got seated right away. The happy hour menu is the best deal ever $20 for niku nabe, $5 for chicken karaage (which my son loves , and $5.50 for the melona shochu which is tastes like spiked ice cream (YUM! . Service is fantastic very accommodating and quick.
