Victoria's never disappoints! The food is delicious and the Victorian atmosphere is warm and inviting. The pub is too!
On a blustery cold January evening, we walked in from the boardwalk entrance of the pub, and were directed to the sparsely populated dining room with windows facing the ocean. Crisp white linen tableclothes and brown cloth napkins folded neatly on the tables make for a nice first impression. The Victorian decor, including stained glass lights overhead, under a 'tin ' ceilng) flowery printed wallpaper, old b&w photos and reproductions of historic old paintings (including Queen Victoria) pepper the eating spaces, and plenty of real wood trim all together provide an elegant atmosphere sight. A propane fireplace was throwing some heat from the northeast corner of the lower level dining room. We were promptly greeted and seated at a deuce in the upper level. Our waitress quickly showed up to deliver a basket of three rolls and butter and put two small pieces of melba toast with chicken salad in the middle and she was ready to take a drink order. When she brought my martini on the rocks with olives (the 'rocks ' was $2 extra listed later on the check), she was ready to take our order, and did not offer any specials nor tell us of any soups of the day nor suggest anything. We had looked at the menu, so we were ready and ordered a strip steak for me, and my spouse ordered a shrimp and crab salad platter said to tower but was sparse overall. The food was delivered I would have preferred to linger, but our servers brought it in fifteen minutes after we ordered. My steak was glazed and drizzeld, and held asparagus, fingerling potatoes, and carrots. It was cooked perfectly, and my meal was excellent. My partner did not like his as overpriced and scanty on each ingredient listed in the menu description. Our waitron came back too many times to ask if everything was okay , and the moment our utensils were down, our table was cleared, we got the tab and were soon out of there. Why charge 42 for ice when one orders gin on the rocks?
Was very disappointed with the Christmas dinner. I chose the prime rib and it was so tough it was hard to cut and hard to chew. I would have liked a small salad in stead of brussel sprouts. Not many people like them. Also coffee would have been nice as part of the dinner. Wish you could go back to the buffet. It was fabulous! Decorations were beautiful.
My daughter and I went to Victoria's for lunch the week before Christmas, and we are so glad we went there. We enjoyed the food, the ocean view, and of course the Christmas decorations were tasteful and beautifully done. We go to Victoria's on special occasions and are always pleased with the food, view and ambience.
