Defranko's Submarines

Great sandwich joint adjacent to Van Nuys airport. They have a parking lot and tables in the rear. Pastrami sandwich was great.

Don’t blink, you may drive by one of the truly hidden gems here by Van Nuys Airport. Bring an appetite, sizes are mini, small, and large. I went with a small pastrami with cheese. The small is a sizable portion for an adult. Next time I would hold the onions and tomatoes. The pastrami is delicious. It paired well with the mustard and pickles.

Love this little place. Their sandwiches are simply the best in the area!!!

I got the steak pepper one and my friend got the tuna salad sandwich. We both really enjoyed our food and neither of us could finish the whole thing saved it for later. The lady inside was working hard and very quickly. I originally read about this place from an article I read online and I knew I had to try it so was very glad when I finally got the chance to visit. The lady made warm eye contact while turning around and giving me my sandwich; thank you for the great service.

This place is great. Old school Van Nuys establishment passed down from original owners to Dru, who keeps the classic recipes going. Ordered two #1's yes yes to go. Yumazing. Happiness. ?
