Granma - Kalavoor

We arrived at the restaurant only to find it closed. Despite asking our driver to inquire with other drivers, who confirmed that it was closed, we were unable to dine there.

After visiting the Shiiva Temple next door to Mararikulam beach during a festival, our taxi driver recommended a local small restaurant to us. We were pleasantly surprised by the fresh and delicious thali we had there, with a lot of variety. It was the best food we had tasted since arriving in Kerala. The next morning, we returned to the temple hoping that Granma's restaurant would be open, but it wasn't. However, the owners kindly cooked a traditional Putty for us, which was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a traditional dining experience made with love.

We visited this restaurant based on the reviews and were pleasantly surprised. It is a small restaurant with simple seating and dim lighting, but the food was delicious. There was no set menu, so we ordered a fish curry and a vegetarian meal. The dishes were freshly prepared and each one was fantastic. The vegetarian meal consisted of about five dishes, while the fish curry came with a few extras. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which lasted about 25 minutes. If we were in the area longer, we would definitely visit again.

We ate here a few times in December and really enjoyed eating. there is no menu, the host just came out and asked what we liked. we said they were to surprise us and were not disappointed. it was delicious, cheap and the host brought. from a few small free extras for us to try at the end. at our second visit it was a little late and there were no taxis/cars over so that the host jumped on his roller and someone felt for us. Thank you!

While staying at Marari Beach, we had 3 dinners at Granma- all of which were stunning. A very simple setting for truly delicious home cooked food served with the warmest hospitality- a true gem of an experience each time! Shaji and his family went above...and beyond- helping us out when our son was unwell nothing to do with their food). Extremely kind people as well as great food!!! They also put a great deal of effort into sourcing high quality local produce which is great to hear. Definitely recommended for an authentic and heartwarming experience!
