It comes on a croissant and it was tender and flaky. I also got the Passion Fruit Lemonade with Rum. I think the rum kind of ruined it, but the lemonade was so delicious that it was still good. The wife got the Pineapple Pecan French toast. It was good and filling. She was only able to eat 3/4 of the order, but really wanted to eat it all. Great place to go, and right next to the water.
This is probably about the 8th time we have eaten here and frankly we are done. The first time was the best and it has just gotten worse and worse. Today is it sign me done and never again. Reserved via Open Table at 7:30 they don't start seating until 7:40 do you have a reservation yes she found it ok, asked for a table (mind you there were 8 people at this time) and it was in corner where we always sit got the 3rd degree we are trying to balance out the restaurant with 8 people??? No menus ok, was prepared so ordered via Toast the Pull Apart and Kona French press (32 oz). Pull Apart was mediocre and cold when it's good it's good this wasn't. $10 pot of Kona French Press was maybe 24 oz and pretty yucky. 7/11 is better coffee. Breakfast no more omelettes we don't have the time to make them (still on the menu though) it's a scramble. $14.95 for a veggie bowl of rice and veggies not bad but still. Potatoes were good the 2 eggs came out wrong ordered scramble but were 2 sunnyside up they replaced. Server grabbed the wrong order. The icing on the cake was they said I was a no show at Open Table so I had to send Open Table a Message showing them I was there. How Shabby is that — do they not want to credit people who use Open Table??? All in all with tax and tip $50 NOT WORTH IT SKIP THIS PLACE service is meh and the food is way overpriced. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They have a great view and that’s it — It used to be good but not anymore.
We love brunch. Especially on vacation. Mimosa for him, **** mary for me. Both were great! I had the veggie omelet and it was really good... and very filling. Service was good, but slow... they were super busy while we were there, so that was probably why. Definitely go, but remember they operate on island time.
I had one of the best oat milk vanilla lattes EVER at this place! Paired with banana and macadamia nut topped pancakes (big enough to share). Island Lava Java is situated in a great spot near the Royal Kona resort and other notable hotels and vacation rentals. Only downside it is popular and that means BUSY so you may need to wait for a table AND a server. But go if for nothing else the COFFEE!!
This place used to have great food. It now seems to be a shadow of its former self. Remarkably mediocre food. Lost attention to details. The menu didn’t work. They gave us super small appetizer plates and some of the food fell on the ground. The Mac encrusted fish was not the same as a couple years ago, just deep fried fish with some sauce. Overall, skip it. Many better places nearby with the same view. Don’t believe me? Ask the locals.
