The location is simply perfect! go from the back door, over the street and there the beach! large restaurants and shopping centers in a walkable distance. the only part is the parking space that is very limited. else, you have to park on the road. room: 4/5

Friendly staff at the counter. I forgot her name, but she has beautiful eyes. She was very nice all the visit. She called us later to check if everything was okay. Beautiful lush greenery around the entire property right on the strip. Sea view over the road from our balcony. Beautiful clean room tile floors in mini kitchen, a plus. Parking is quickly full and some nights we had to park on the street because we came too late. Prime location for apartment with beach and restaurant/shop access.

We were surprised to get a view of the sea at our second visit to this resort(first was inside pool view) The small studio is very good for 2 people, but 1 room could be quickly filled with the extendable couch. You can walk around Kona easily and to the view beach (no swimming) over the street. The bed was comfortable, but the kitchen is small and economical. No small bowls or glassware or sharp knives to cut the beautiful fruit easily available on the market. A wine opener, but no wine glasses... I saved a plastic cup from a restaurant! The phone number we were given for the off-site management company has never been answered. Our unit was near the street that gave us a beautiful view, but a lot of street noise. You need a car to reach this great beautiful island, but this resort allows you to go to meals and the city.

This is an apartment resort and the rooms that are available are only those that provide their own. these can vary significantly. we had luck and got a nice place with views of the sea, very clean and although small, was quite usable. the resort does not choose the units for it, a management company does. I was nervous when reading the previous reviews, but we had great customer service the couple times that we needed something and, as everyone said, the situation cannot beat.

The Kona Islander is in a great location right in the center of downtown Kona. The decor room that we stayed in was very outdated. The AC unit was very loud. The shower door was very hard to open and close. I was afraid the glass was going to break. Worst of all was the front desk hospitality. The desk was unmanned for over an hour at 9:00am on a Saturday. We waited for over an hour for someone.. One of the lobby phones goes to a voice-mail the other is not connected. We asked additional coffee and we were told to call RCI. We will stay elsewhere if we return to the Big Island. Service is most important to us when we travel.
