Tuesday we had two hamburger with fritten for 37. we had only water to these trips. a whopper, double double or big mac would have been preferable. the chef cooked it according to my preference. Wednesday we had two prefabricated and packed turkey sandwiches with a piece of chocolate cake. if they ever tried a packed disc of choc cake and then the ones we had would be extremely disappointed. 23.50 for this experience and my wife never said to this sandwich again. she would rather do it herself and store it in the two dollar locks. I will check out for the next trip in mres or try something else on the menu. if you've made it so far, dear leser, thank you for putting on my diatribe.
My favorite local ski mountain is 6 to 7 hours away by car, but it competes with all other world class resorts. I 've skied all the major ski resorts in the US and I 'm proud to call Mammoth my local resort. I live in San Diego, so it 's easier to fly to Salt Lake City than to drive to Mammoth, but I still love going to Mammoth several times a year. The resort is very well run, and they keep things flowing smoothly in spite of all the variables of weather, visitor counts, road conditions, etc. I meet avid ski families and individuals from all over the US and the world and they all say the same thing. They LOVE it. I 'm so grateful for what Dave McCoy started and built many decades ago, that I 've been enjoying for 52 years and counting.
No wonder everyone talks about Mammoth! The snow is amazing! It's so fluffy and the mountain is soooo huge. There is plenty of space to ski and snowboard. They have areas for all the tricks and boxes. Gondola rides all the way to shred down or just even for the views and dining. It's crazy how huge this place is and how breathtaking everything is. We parked at The Mill before the main lot and shuttled up to main area. There is parking but might be limited. Parking along the road and shuttle stops also. We didn't know the mountain and parking but The Mill has a lift (Stump alley) to take you to the main area. Free parking. People are nice. Lots of dining. So much fluff for March too! Truly amazing.
This is a review specifically for Canyon Lodge dining hall. Food options on the mountain are always limited, but there is a large salad bar at Canyon Lodge. I ate a salad the first day we were here and have been sick with food poisoning ever since. I suspect they are long overdue for inspection and to properly train their staff on food handling and storage. Extremely disappointing to spend the money and time it takes for a ski week and for it all to be tainted with totally avoidable illness, particularly at the fault of the mountain.
I would never recommend coming here ever again! we 've been coming here for years. DO NOT COME HERE! if you ever get hurt or something similar happens to you they will do nothing!!!!!!!!! Today while my father was snowboarding down the mountain a little girl got in front of him and they collided together. it wasn 't a hard and both of them were okay. he was helping her up when a man, i believe could have been her father came up and decided to beat the **** out of him and assault him. he was confused because nothing really happened and he came out of nowhere. Let me tell you he 's am 55 year old man, he can snowboard pretty well and both him and the girl fine, this man was a lot younger than him and he had no chance in defending himself because every time he tried to stop it he would hit him again. My uncle saw him and ran his way to see what was going on, at first it looked like he was trying to help him but as he got closer he saw how the man was punching on his face, the man then grabbed his daughter and ran off. My dad immediately tried to get a hold of the security of mammoth and the employees to go see one of their doctors and to see what the heck happened and how this happened, and he got no help from anyone working for the mammoth mountain. We also called the police and filed a police report, unless we find the guy or get a picture of him they will what they can, so we are grateful for the mammoth police department. The Security guard for mammoth basically said well you shouldn 't of have ran into her i told them things happen all the time it doesn 't give anyone the right to beat someone else up and the ski resort should be held liable or should have taken care of things when i asked for help. The police are trying to find this man, he was wearing brown pants and a black jacket. We will do everything we can to find them and pursue them or mammoth. Please be wary of this when you go next time. If something like this happens Mammoth Mountain ski resort will wash their hands and look the other way. We 've asked for their camera feed to try and find this guy with the police and they 've ultimately said we dont have any clearly lying. Mammoth should be held liable, since they are allowing assaults to take place on their mountain, and over look it. While other employees are just letting it happen!
