The owner was very friendly and made all of her own salad dressings, with the exception of ranch, which is not vegan. This allowed us to enjoy a vegan Caesar salad, a spinach-walnut salad, and what might be the best chili we have ever had. If you find yourself driving along Hwy 395 near Mono Lake or Mammoth, make sure to stop by Epic Cafe for a delicious meal.
The restaurant was bustling with activity, yet they managed to seat and serve everyone efficiently and with great attention to detail. I ordered the brown rice bowl with tofu which was delicious and served in generous portions.
The restaurant serves meat and dairy, but they also offer vegan options. I tried the spinach, strawberry, and walnut salad with tofu instead of feta. The salad was large and refreshing, dressed in balsamic sauce. The cafe is eco-friendly, with composting and recycling. It can be difficult to find due to limited internet reception in the area.
We had the quinoa salad and a fabulous potato dill soup. Wish they offered more choices but the quality was great and a good start.
This place was very busy, but somehow they were in the position to sit and serve all with great efficiency and love to detail. I had the brown rice dish with tofu-great taste and a lot of food.
