El Mariachi - Johnston

I am so glad I found this restaurant. It is my favorite mexican restaurant in the Des Moines area. I have tried many and none were as good as here. Food is excellent, service is quick, and always a busy place.

The tacos carnal asada is to die for. The chips were warm and the pico was fresh. Salsa was okay but not awesome. I come here every time I come to town.

I always love it here. Food and service is great. We had walked into a different Mexican restaurant down the street, didnt realize the service was bad until we ordered a drink so we walked out. Got here, quickly was serviced, rounds of drinks and a free shot for the table. Love the service, environment and queso!

I might rate this differently in Santa Fe but for Iowa no complaints. Nice quality food for a decent price and the drinks were strong. The outdoor seating was particularly nice.

Food was decent, margaritas weren't very strong but good. Once the food was served to our large group (20ish) didn't see the waitress again until everyone was pretty much done eating, and that was to ask about boxes. This group goes there once a month so I decided to go with, wasn't all that impressed. Would only return because of my group, not on my own.
