Salmon River Country Inn - Jeddore

Food was excellent, we had fish and chips and fish tacos, we would recommend both. Staff were wonderful. We were there for the live music on Friday evening, so much fun!

On the rainy July first weekend, we stopped for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, service and atmosphere. It sure brightened an otherwise dull day. We had a baby with us and they had toys and things to entertain him as we ate.We will be back.

Our first stop off the plane, we stopped in for late lunch on a dreary, cold, rainy Saturday of June (17;) the kind of day that's more suited to April than mid-June. We were shown to our table, or rather we were offered to choose our table, seeing there was only one other couple seated. I chose a table next to window, giving my better honey the view on the river. Our charming and helpful waiter even put the blinds up to try a lift the dreariness!After learning of the day's specials and consulting the menu, Honey ordered the vegetable soup and the small fish and chips while I went with a side a Margit's potato salad and Schnitzel with spätzle (it normally comes with fries or potato salad but asked to have the spätzle instead). If you are looking for the perfect stop on the highway 7 this is your place. Very nice interior, great lake view, friendly staff and very tasty food. We had one of the best lobster rolls :)

It is lovely to sit on the deck overlooking the Salmon River as it flows into the ocean as you have your meal. The waitress is awesomely friendly in that folksy Nova Scotia way that I found endearing but my foreign guest was a bit put off by. The Inn boasts a German kitchen. I so looked forward to my schnitzel. It was edible but not the best. Maybe they had troubles in the kitchen on the day I visited. I WANT them to be a great restaurant because they're nice people and it's a beautiful spot. It should be worth doing a leisurely lunch time trip from the city for, but for now, settle for the black forest cake and a coffee until they sort out the temperature on the burner or whatever went wrong. I'll go back soon and if it's improved I'll update this post.
