Convenient stop for food along the south bank riverwalk. Portions and quality are good, if a bit pricey for breakfast. You pay for the atmosphere and a few extras like home baked goods and craft fountain sodas. It was worth it to me as a treat while I was downtown for an appointment. It's order at the counter, choose your own table, they'll bring it to you. Repeat your order back to make sure all items are included, my drink was missed. No biggie, it gave me a chance to place a second order for a muffin I had debated on. Dining room is huge and some of the tables have a nice view of the river. Cozy after brunch nook with sofas and free newspapers to catch up on. Some nice photographic artwork of landmarks in the area. The riverwalk in this area contains a river taxi stop, the Lone Sailor statue and a view of the USS Orlek battleship that is docked across the river. Free street parking is possible across the street from River Place Tower, but a limited number of spaces. The paid lot is adjacent to the building if you don't want to walk. The cafe is located ground floor in the Ameris tower, with nice public restrooms across the hall. Entrances from the riverwalk or the office building lobby.
I would give this place 20 stars if I could. The food was excellent and they gave you a lot. The staff went above and beyond to give us the best service we've ever had. Brenda was truly beyond amazing. I cannot begin to give enough compliments to her and all of the staff. We are so happy that we found this place because we were looking for something simple and we found this place kind of by accident. It was quiet and clean and just like eating at home. So comfortable and much appreciated considering it's so hard to find a restaurant like this anymore. Thanks to all that made our experience amazing on our vacation. We will be back when we pass through Jacksonville again.
Village Bread Cafe, hands down is one of the best cafe's on the South Side of the River!! I eat here often and what I can say is they pride themselves on being consistent. The customer service is consistent. The portion sizes are consistent. The menu is consistently amazing and I've enjoyed picking different things on the menu to try. Can I just say consistently consistent??!!!If you are looking for an entire vibe with great food and beautiful views to dine, stop in and see the crew at Village Bread at 1301 Riverplace Blvd. Ask for the Jalepeno Crawfish soup-I promise you will not be disappointed. Delilah and her crew are hands down, one of the best crews in Jacksonville.Vegetarian options: The offer an array of different options on the menu to suit most eating disciplines.Kid-friendliness: There is an entire kid's menu.Wheelchair accessibility: The cafe is large and airy with plenty of space between the tables.
We were looking for a good place for breakfast while visiting Jacksonville. This place has a great atmosphere and wonderful view of the river. The staff was very courteous, friendly helpful. Food was good too.
