Monroe's Smokehouse B-q - Jacksonville

I miss this place. Where should I go now? Anything close by that y'all really like for brisket?

Another delivery review... I really wanted some brisket and try a new place, new place to me that is. My standard place just wasn't appealing to me simply because I want something quick and less expensive so that's when I came across Monroe's. I really wanted some smoked wings but that would be too messy for work. A small beef brisket meal seemed like a better option, with a side of tomato cucumber salad and baked beans. It arrived at my job I record time and I was ready to eat. The brisket itself was so delicious, I'd wish I had ordered the larger size. The sides were tasty and I particularly like my baked beans a little on the sweeter side which made this meal perfect. This place did not disappoint. I will definitely be back for more.

The food was mediocre at best. The mac and cheese was bland, potato salad...I dont even think was potato salad. It resembled boiled potato with a white sauce on it, not your typical potato salad. Both the Mac and cheese and potatoes in sauce were lacking flavor. The nachos were blah, the pulled pork was great that was on top of the nachos but the canned cheese sauce left much to be desired. Our waitress was also mediocre. The ribs were tasty, I will say that. Unfortunately the ribs weren't good enough to warrant a second go, we won't be back.

This location was fully decorated from top to bottom for the holidays. I needed a fast quality lunch and having been to the original location on the Westside, I knew to have high expectations. Monroe's did not disappoint. After studying the menu, I finally decided on the Burnt ends sandwich with a side of collards. I'm here to tell you it really hit the spot. The burnt ends were full of flavor and tender with just the right amount of smoke. The collards were tasty and obviously made with love. Service was fast and friendly with the southern hospitality you'd expect. Eat here soon and eat here often.

This might look like a quick spot for lunch or dinner but it is not. I would not recommend this place if you like to get in and out in an hour or less. There were only 4 tables and it took over 25 min for the food to arrive. If we come back I'll be taking it to go.
