Contribuiți la feedbackWe went to the Shieling twice when we were staying in Poolewe. Firstly just for a snack and drink after a walk however ended up having soup and a sandwich which was very generous in portion size “he doesn’t do small “ the waitress said laughing. I had mushroom soup which was delicious and my partner had the Cullen Skink which she declared the best ever! As it was so good we booked to return with our friends for lunch on the Friday, we all had fish and chips or scampi all of which were really fresh and tasty. The staff are really helpful and friendly and service was great. I would definitely recommend the Shieling if you are in the area but booking ahead especially in high season and weekends are a must.
What a lovely little gem this is in Gairloch. Visited on Wednesday 21st Feb 24 with my two young boys (4 and 6) with husband in tow. Youngest was desperate for a beach day and upon arriving in Gairloch the heavens opened so decided to have lunch first in the hope it passed. The two ladies serving were so incredibly accommodating to my two boys and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and well worth the money. Will be visiting again and 100% recommend.
Always book ahead to avoid disapointment, because it so popular with locals. 6 of us had a family lunch and it was perfect. The waitresses Jackie and Laura were so professional and friendly. My cullen skink soup was delicious. We love the food here. Thank you Donald and staff. Guaranteed a warm welcome every time. You have to book first as this place gets busy. Do not expect to walk in and get a table for meal without booking because it is popular. This restaurant is an asset to this area. The coffees and cakes are great too.
We went just for a snack. A party of four. We were told that it would be a 25 minute wait to be served but said we were prepared to wait. The restaurant was at this point quite empty. After quite a long wait we ordered drinks but at this point not allowed to order food. another long wait and we at last ordered our food. The food was, when it arrived was of a high quality but 45 minutes to get a bacon roll and a side of chips in an almost empty restaurant seems unacceptable. We will not be going back.
Cappuccino is a must have! Friendly staff. Lovely view of the bay and gorgeous to watch the rain and storm come through. Good Scottish good and produce to buy.
