We are expats living in or near Panama City and some of us are retired, therefore we have our visas and we qualify for the senior jubilado discount. However, after telling the waiter that we would like to use our discount the owner comes out and basically tried to discourage us from using it by saying she's a small business among some other excuses. She stood there for almost 5 minutes repeatedly trying to discourage us. To make matters worst, she included the tip without our knowledge or approval. The food was way over priced and not good. Those that had the fish said it wasn't fresh, and that it was frozen. I will never go back there nor would I recommend it.
Small boutique hotel on an island called Carineros in Bocas del Toro Panama, a heavenly place. The hotel has cabins in the water, as well as cabins on land that are very beautiful and you share your stay with friendly crabs. The food is very rich, the owner is the one who cooks, good drinks, relaxing, attentive, to isolate and disconnect is perfect. I recommend it
What a wonderful place in the Bocas to enjoy gorgeous views, delicious food, and wonderful people who will help you at every turn with suggestions on how to explore and enjoy the islands. We loved our time here in our little over the water cabin. The food is so wonderful here and the drinks are perfectly made. If you don’t try the coconut shrimp, he will really be missing out.
The best thing about this place is how close it is to everything (beaches, short water taxi to town, stores, etc). Even that would not be enough to convince me to stay here again or recommend it to anyone. The food is ridiculously overpriced and bland as anything. The bar and restaurant routinely closed at 5 pm ?? and there was nothing even close to authentic Panamanian food. The owner is very rude and upcharges everything as it is the closest/most convenient place to get food, do laundry, etc. The power and water was shut off for two days without anything being said from the staff or owner (you figured it out on your own). The pool that is listed is not built yet. There were ants everywhere inside our room. The whole place just needs to be rebuilt and upgraded. Overall, just not worth any amount of your money. Only saving grace at this place is the owner's son, who was very kind and responsive to problems, and the bartenders and serving staff.
Restaurant-wise, a place to experience the carribean at it's best. They can even make a person hating the seafood crave it and insist on coming back there. Lovely surroundings, great food!
