Breadgarden - Iowa City

Delicious food! This café offers a fantastic selection for those on the go. While it may not be the cheapest option, the quality of the food is evident. The staff is incredibly friendly, making for a welcoming atmosphere. Although the space is somewhat limited, they've curated a wonderful mix of beloved favorites and intriguing new dishes. I enjoy picking up a $1 piece of quality cheese from the charcuterie cooler, paired with their BBQ turkey sandwich and a Diet Coke for lunch. They have a great variety of healthy and organic options, but they also ensure there's plenty of indulgent treats available. Plus, they have a wine bar that looks like it will open onto a patio in the summer (currently closed for winter). I haven't tried their breakfast items yet, but their self-serve unsweetened tea is a great morning option (though I recommend adding some sweetener). It’s super convenient to stop by while in the Pedestrian Mall rather than waiting for delivery when staying at nearby hotels.

This market is quite impressive! When I visited on a Saturday, they were offering wine tastings. There’s a fantastic selection of salads, sandwiches, and made-to-order treats. What stood out to me the most was their incredible bread. I chose the jalapeño cheddar bread, and it was absolutely delicious! They even have a bread slicer, where the staff—who are extremely helpful—assist you in slicing and packaging it. The bread was only $5, which is a fantastic deal considering the quality and the slicing service. I love how thin they slice it; it tastes amazing right out of the toaster. Honestly, it’s so good that you don’t even need to add anything to it!

This is a wonderful place that blends the atmosphere of a café, bakery, and gourmet grocery store. While staying at the hotel next door, I had a daily food and beverage credit at Bread Garden Market. Each morning, I treated myself to a spicy ginger chai latte and a breakfast scramble, both of which were absolutely delicious. The breakfast was not only flavorful but also healthy and fulfilling. They offer gelato and a range of delectable baked goods, along with fresh produce and packaged items. It's a perfect location to grab snacks for a road trip, stock up on household essentials, or enjoy a hot meal.

The pastries are delicious, and the customer service is outstanding right in the center of Iowa City! I tried the cheese Danish, and it was amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding selection of food, wine, and groceries! I've been there multiple times for both lunch and dinner, and each visit was fantastic. I highly recommend checking it out!
