Contribuiți la feedbackWhat an amazing experience! The ceilidh at this restaurant in Cape Breton is simply the best, with a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and tourists. It's a must-visit spot in the area.
My husband is from a community near The Frolic and Folk, his family still lives there. He has been to this spot before with them. I really wanted to try it so they all took me on October 3, 2021. Because my sister in law owns a business in the area she knows or recognizes many of the people in the community. When we entered we waited several minutes to be seated. There was only one person doing both the bar duties and waiting tables. My sister in law point out to me that the owner was sitting at the bar. While we stood there waiting he was busy looking at something on his phone. Not a great start. Finally the worker noticed us and pointed us to a table. He was clearly busy so we did our best to be patient. He brought the menu’s over, took our drink order and then went outside for a smoke where we could clearly see him. From a service prospective at this point expectations were pretty low. We ordered the Seafood Platter, Bacon Cheeseburger, wings, small fries and pan fried haddock. The food did not disappoint. It was very good. After things settled down the waiter came over to chat. He was much more relaxed and from that moment on he was great. The owner however spend nearly the whole time we were there doing something on his phone. He never once stepped up to help his staff or his customers. With beverages our bill came to 105.57. Not bad for four people.
Great drinks, nice selection of typical pub fare. We were especially fond of the clam and chips. The service was to die for.
My husband and I visited the Frolic’n Folk Pub Grill during our recent stay at the fantastic Iona Heights Inn. Dan looked after us like family and personally ensured that we had a fantastic meal! Although the menu was limited, the choices were amazing! My husband had the Maple Curry Penne and it was out of this world. Who knew those flavours would blend so beautifully on a pasta? I had the 5oz steak and fries and it was just right. Dan suggested the coconut cream pie for dessert and it was absolutely amazing. The crust was so flaky and the custard was so creamy and sweet, real whipped cream.... I am SO glad I took him up on his suggestion!!!! We had another meal the second night of our stay and went with the wings... they were beautifully breaded and perfectly fried! The beer-battered fries were so addictive! John, the Kitchen manager, made sure everything was perfect. This place has a fantastic, fun ambience and decor. There is so much to look at! A great selection of craft beers on tap too. We enjoyed it so much, we bought the shirt! We will definitely be back on our next Cape Breton trip!
Great food and atmosphere. Well worth the stop. Spectacular view from the top of the hill. Must return spot.
