Our family was part of a group of 19, children and adults and I thought the servers were very attentive. My fish tacos were pretty good, but they could have come back to the lime juice. My daughter had her chicken bacon Mac and cheese and really liked it. My wife loved the shells, but thought the pannenschleier was a bit dirty. What really impressed me is that they served the children first. This is the way to earn points with parents.
That's one of the worst restaurants I can ever remember. The restaurant is located on the street of (and I believe part of) the Keltic Lodge in Ingonish Beach on Cape Breton Island. The location is picturesque and the dining room is spacious. Then why am I so down in the restaurant? It was food and service. Your Chowder was terrible. I had a lobster and it was hard and chewing. I tried the shells too. They were tasteless. The fish tacos I would best describe as meh. Others in our group of five gave the following feedback: salmon ... so; Steak .... not great; Turkey Club.... As if that wasn't enough, the service was in dispute. Meals came very slow and drinks, it seemed, even slower. A person in our group ordered a second glass of wine. It didn't come during the meal. Then finally, after he was tired of waiting after the meal, the diner rose and got the glass of wine from the bartender. When the waitress was asked for the incessant waiting, she replied, I'm not the bartender. We talked to the manager at the end of the meal, and I have to say he was as apologetic and accommodating as everyone could be. I wish I could add a star to the evaluation of the restaurant only on the basis of the response of management, but that would not only be for readers who trust in Yelp! Reviews. To be fair, our visit was in mid-June 2016 and the restaurant had just begun for the upcoming high season in Nova Scotia. Maybe our server was new to the service industry. Besides, you could get a bad server almost everywhere. May come July the place will show improvement. Of course, food is another problem. I don't know who was in this kitchen, but their level of culinary competence left much to be desired. This REALLY must be addressed to anyone who ever has a pleasant meal here.
