City Market Deli - Indianapolis

I really appreciate the variety of suppliers and the rich history of the market! Wednesdays are my favorite day to visit.

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and anticipated a bustling atmosphere similar to what you would experience at Pike Place in Seattle or the Milwaukee Public Market...

I visited the city for lunch and decided to try a Middle Eastern restaurant for my main meal, followed by dessert from a cookie stand. I had a falafel wrap and fries from the restaurant...

One employee kindly warned us about moving the chairs, and we complied. However, as we were getting up, another worker approached us—not as kindly as the first. This individual, clearly in a position of authority, began to chastise us and threatened us if we didn't move the chairs back. Again, we complied and returned the chairs to their original positions. We then made our way to the second level, where we were promised more seating options that wouldn’t require adjustments. However, to our dismay, we found that all the tables there were only suitable for two or four people. Once again, we decided to move some chairs to accommodate our group of seven and to ensure everyone felt comfortable. Just when we thought we were in the clear, another staff member approached us aggressively, demanding that we move the chairs again. We promised to put them back and were met with hostile glares as we tried to enjoy our meals. What struck us as particularly amusing—albeit frustrating—was the fact that men around us were freely moving chairs without any issue, while our group faced constant scrutiny. It left us questioning why this group of aspiring professional women was being singled out. Our conclusion is that the staff appears to harbor a bias against women. Thank you.

We were a small group attending a convention and decided to dine here to connect with one another. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, allowing us to hear each other easily. I particularly loved my meal, which was delicious. I'll definitely return if I'm ever back in Indianapolis!
