Shamrock - Île-de-Bréhat

It was the 1st of May. Not the day to go out. The day for the workforce, not a day for service. Perhaps on another day we would have had better service; come away having had a better experience. We visited many other spots while on the isle. You will be very happy with the others.

We had returned to le bourg for lunch and found most places closed for May 1st. Just a few folks were at table on the square. We asked where we could find a meal and were directed to Le Shamrock and told food was not served on the square [by village ordinance]. We were taken to a vacant terrace behind the bar. This 'ambiance ' sort of dimmed our mood. My moules and frites were very good, steaming hot and plentiful. The beer of Bretagne, also good.

We tried some other restaurants but they were full as we had not booked. The Shamrock has an area at the back which is fine, although you could be anywhere. Service was prompt and the food was good, especially the steak. A good find and better than expected.
