I ordered the costillar de cordero lamb ribs) with picante de pallares verdes (green lima beans and chili sauce). This dish, I would say, was...acceptable, not out of this world as my friend had touted it to be. My husband ordered a combo dish of arroz con pato (green rice with duck); salad; lima beans; and seco de res (cilantro-beef stew). The green rice was tasty. The duck, he could not eat at all. This duck must have been ancient as the meat was tough as nails. The beef stew had good taste, but the meat also was very tough. My husband had to chew and chew in order to be able to eat it. I do not recommend this restaurant. A much better choice in Ica is Restaurante La Estacion.
Not only was el pallar delicious, but the lamb was cooked beautifully! Along with our meal, we received a small history lesson of the city of Ica after the hostess noticed we were foreigners. She took the time to explain what pallar was and it's...variety of beans. She gave us a shot of pisco to try and it was very tasty I even had to buy a bottle to take back to the United states. We went at night after dark. At first it appeared closed but locals know it stays open with the gate closed for security reasons. I definitely recommend coming back and seeing friendly faces again
The food at El Pallar de Ica is extremely fresh and wonderfully spiced. The portions are generous and you wil not definetly end up hungry. Real quality in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The best bit though is the prices and the Pisco Sour!. Honestly the...best value meal I've had for a lunch-time restaurant in our stay in Peru… Its so delicious! Having visited El Pallar de Ica in and now in I must say that the stablishment has gone a long way to improve the facilities they have. We definetly recommend this restaurant and will definetly go back again. Best Pisco Sour we've tried in Peru!!

This restaurant was recommended to us but the food was very bland the fish had no seasoning what so ever. This happens a lot to restaurants they get name and then they rest on laurels of the past
