Matsu - Huntington Beach

We always look forward to visiting this restaurant and enjoying some time at the bar with a few Mai Tais, hand rolls, and sashimi. Amy, the bar manager, does a fantastic job ensuring our food arrives promptly. While we’re not particularly fond of their cut rolls, the octopus is outstanding, especially when ordered very thinly sliced. Paired with fresh, thin lemon slices, it’s delicious—something I haven't enjoyed anywhere else. Our favorite is the Poorman’s hand roll, likely because we’re not fans of seaweed wraps; this one uses soy paper instead. With the addition of fresh jalapeño slices, it’s truly sensational. I also love their sashimi platter, which is generous enough to share with a friend or two. The Mai Tais here are distinctive compared to regular cocktails and can pack quite a punch, so drink responsibly! The bar has a lively, dark atmosphere filled with regular patrons, and we love coming here at least once a month!

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. The scallops and filet mignon were cooked to perfection. The chef also had a great sense of humor. The ambiance was lovely, with a nostalgic vibe, generous portions, and friendly staff. Everything was of high quality. I’ll definitely return the next time I'm in the mood for a great meal here.

This is my daughter's favorite Japanese restaurant and I'm also glad! As a single parent, I have a budget that I am. Your favourite is California Roll Bento Box with green salad and chicken Teriyaki with miso soup. Do not be able to make food pictures because they eat immediately when the order arrives.

Super special place for me and my family. We have been coming here to celebrate most major life accomplishments for just north of 30 years. We enjoy the atmosphere, friendly staff, and most of all the good food! The sushi is amazeballs, the boat is our go to. It's an assortment of Japanese foods, loaded on a wooden boat. I remember being amazed as a child when they brought it out. Come for the vibes, stay for the food. 10/10 recommend!
