Sweet Melissa's - Hundred

Best pies within a 50 mile radius. Definitely worth the trip. My wife and I drove all the way in from New Martinsville just to have a couple of slices. I had the vanilla walnut and my wife had a slice of the pecan caramel pie. Of course we shared. Good value, and the slices were big enough to take some home with us. The diner is quaint with a full menu, and we met the owners, who were super nice. I think the Double V is about the same distance from New Martinsville, Clarksburg, and Morgantown. It's a nice country drive, and well worth it. Double V is a gem hidden in Hundred that I hope more people discover for themselves.

Mashed potatoes are instant, which I don't even eat in my own home. If I am going to pay to eat somewhere I expect something better or at least half as good as what I would make myself. Also, the coleman's fish basket is a dollar more than the sandwich, served on a plate, and is the same piece of fish as the sandwich, just minus the bread and lettuce. They also serve your coleslaw in a tiny ketchup cup. On a positive note, my waitresses have always been friendly. Won't eat here again and wouldn't recommend it.

The First time I ate there the Fried Chicken was AMAZING! The next time I had the country fried steak and it was very good as well! Then I was bragging on it so much, that I took some relatives there to eat. We ordered the Fried Chicken and it was too done! Dried out done! I was embarrassed after talking it up so much! Today we went there and ordered the Hot Beef Sandwich with Mashed potatoes and Gravy and Green Beans! The Beef was cold, and the gravy was colder, The mashed potatoes were instead (instant). When we went to check out, the guy behind the counter didn't even ask how things were! Probably because he was afraid I would tell him. LOL! I so, so very much wanted to love this place! The decor is great! and the food used to be awesome! I hope today was an exception and not the norm of what the Double V Diner has turned into. If that's the case, I say we miss you Sweet Melissa!

Good people very friendly and the food is excellent. Donna and Mike are 2 of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.
