Contribuiți la feedbackAfter enjoying the thermal baths in Monterrey (besides Huaraz), I stumbled on a restaurant called El Ollon de Barro at the bottom of the hill of the cute city. I was pleasantly surprised how at home I felt at the restaurant. It is located in the backyard of a beautiful house (my children enjoyed playing in the yard). The owner (Adela) was very friendly and the trucha (trout) was the best I ever had. I enjoyed my meal so much that I came to the restaurant twice before my departure (Note that the restaurant is not open every day) and enjoyed the kitchen (Vea Schwein) and Pachamanca (meat and potatoes cooked under the earth). For those with a sweet tooth, I recommend Picarones (sweet potatoes donuts) that are from this world. If you want a family restaurant with amazing local food, don't look further!

After enjoying the thermal bathes in Monterrey (next to Huaraz), I stumbled on a restaurant called El Ollon de Barro at the bottom of the hill of the cute town. I was pleasantly surprised how at home I felt at the restaurant. It is set in the backyard of a beautiful house (my kids enjoyed playing in the yard). The owner (Adela) was very friendly and the trucha (trout) was the best I have ever eaten. I enjoyed my meal so much that I came to the restaurant for lunch two more times before I left (note that the restaurant is not open every day) and enjoyed the cuy (guinea pig) and pachamanca (meat and potatoes cooked underground). For those with a sweet tooth, I recommend Picarones (sweet potatoe donuts), which are out of this world. If you want a family restaurant with amazing local food, look no further!
