Ken Yakitori - Howick

The food was great! I had the fish katsu, chicken gizzards, beef tongue and chicken thigh sticks. My partner got the teriyaki chicken udon and the yakitori set. Everything was great! Great place to eat at especially if you're looking for drinks as well. Love the selection if beer as well.

Amazing Yakitori! The restaurant was quite crowded, and the food took a bit longer to arrive, but we weren't in a hurry, so it didn't really bother us.

The Japanese bar atmosphere is a refreshing change, reminiscent of what you would find in Japan.

I tried the five-piece mixed skewer plate, and I found the prawns and sausage to be quite delicious. The chicken and beef were decent but nothing special. For our main dishes, we ordered eel don and tempura prawns. Overall, the meal was average, but I think our choices were quite simple as well. I would be willing to come back and try something different next time.

Great ambience, very high prices, as is with most yakitori places. Wait time for food can be a bit long though. DO NOT recommend the tuna tataki- no flavour, super dry, felt like eating damp kitchen tissue roll. Salads were nice, kumara was nice. Serving sizes super small (as expected), but overall great service and very suitable for a quick late night snack and drinks.
