My spouse and I were looking forward to trying Nicker’s for their prime rib and seafood buffet, so we dined there on Saturday night. We spent a total of $135 for two people, which is $54 per person plus tip and tax, but we were disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. Overall, I felt the food had a food-service quality: the crab legs were small and overcooked, while the other seafood options like flounder, mahi-mahi, and mussels had a fishy taste. The prime rib was a bit tough and dry. Additionally, the server at the prime rib and crab legs station was stingy, giving me no more than a 1/4-inch thick slice of prime rib and just one cluster of crab legs. To make matters worse, the dessert table was placed uncomfortably close to the entrance of the restaurant, which seemed unsanitary in a post-COVID context. We were quite disappointed and would not recommend dining here for the buffet, especially given its cost, food quality, and limited selections.
Upon parking, you are greeted with the most salacious aromas preparing your palate for greatness. However, the building rapidly replaces anticipation with a musty and moldy odor, stomping your appetite. Perhaps today, being Labor Day, it was an off day. We arrived around 12:45. Derwood, who appears to hold all positions, except server, took our drink order, delivered our drinks, and checked back with us multiple times while we waited for Lori (our actual server) to acknowledge us 22 minutes after arriving to take our lunch order. She did thank us for our patience, but the meals were meh at best. My hubby had the pulled pork (4 stars). My daughter had the fattiest hot wings ever and sent them back (no stars). I had corned beef on stale marbled rye (3 stars). The sweet tea was great (5 stars), but we were never offered refills. The best part of the experience was, by far, Derwood, a very hardworking gentleman.
